Start Seeing CVI Advocacy was created by parents in response to the overwhelming need for advocacy and awareness of cortical visual impairment (CVI). CVI is the leading cause of visual impairment in children in the US. This group is open to parents, caregivers and others who work with and are passionate about our kids who have CVI.
The purpose of this group is to build an advocacy and awareness movement around cortical visual impairment. Discussions will be around ideas, projects, and tasks related to CVI advocacy only, as a collective movement.
Our Platform:
Cortical visual impairment is a disability of visual access (Roman-Lantzy). Children with CVI have a right to access – to see, interpret, and fully experience their world.
Children with CVI have a right to early diagnosis.
Children with CVI have a right to educational and social inclusion.
Children with CVI have a right to an accurate CVI Range Assessment (Roman-Lantzy).
Children with CVI have a right to educators, physicians, therapists and providers who are competent in cortical visual impairment.
We need your voices. To be part of this growing, parent based movement, please go to Start Seeing CVI Advocacy on Facebook or send an email to StartSeeingCVI@gmail.com.
